thank you for your response, Angelique. If the vipassana institute responded
so informatively and straightforwardly about their perception of reiki or
channeling energy, and then left it up to my consideration as to whether or
not I wanted to continue practicing, I would have respected the advice. As
it is, this occurance is yet one more way i feel pulled to the god-dess
"path" of surrender and flow and perfection and wholeness...which I feel the
vipassana practice in its essence helps one to learn, which is I guess why I
felt disappointed by the institute and Goenka and also kindof putoff by the
patronizing treatment of their students (like i did not already and could
not by myself intuit the distinction between sitting with what is and moving
or channeling energy).

What I did not know, and what I asked them about was the attunements. even
if they had a good reason and i decided not to practice reiki/chios, i was
worried that it would not matter on account of the symbols. They had no way
to answer my question, so once again, thank you for your insight.

I have been kindof concerned about all of the symbols myself, esp lately,
and would be curious to find out how to clear them if I come to that
decision. Have been feeling kindof confined by them, for lack of a better
description, kindof like I am encased in their shell and they are filtering
my possibilities. I know that I have all of the healing tools I need
without the attunements and that if I am meant to be a healer according to
divine will, then it will happen without the symbols anyway. Guess I was not
quite at this point in my awareness when i got attuned, and I was looking
for all of the tools I could find to help myself heal.

Any advice on this would be appreciated. I am pretty clear on not wanting
the reiki symbols implanted, but am not so clear on the chios symbols.
