Subject: [K-list] The Flat Earth Syndrome.
From: Christopher Wynter
On 2001/05/11 18:30, Christopher Wynter posted thus to the K-list: In the course of my work .. and my experience ..
there are those whom I have found are quite happy in
their respective bubbles of familiarity ..
bubbles which they continually change the label of to suit the
time and the place of where they are in their lives ...
a bubble of familiarity which is comfortable .. because to step
outside of that bubble is to step into what is, to their conscious
mind, the relative unknown ..
and besides, their tribe might make them an outcast.
What is the possible human capable of ..?
Do we really know ... ?
If there were not those .. just a few hundred years ago, who believed
otherwise and set out to do something about it, consensus opinion
would still be that the earth is flat ...
Not too many hundreds of years before that, we were sitting in caves,
painting on the walls with mud .. and scratching round with sticks.
There are still pockets of resistance .. there are still those who hold
onto the notion that the earth is flat .. and deny the evidence of space
photography and the other marvels of the scientific advancements
of the 20th century ..
There are still those whose identity is strongly tied to their own
particular neurosis in order to remain a member of the tribe ..
only changing the name to suit the fashionable trends ..
to give their particular tribe a greater standing or status.
There are still those whose neurosis is the familiar bubble and who
do not want to step outside of that bubble because to do that will be
to admit that they have been using their negative ego as a weapon
against others in order to elevate their own self esteem ..
through control and manipulation .. which they have been taught, by
example, is the only way to get on in this world ..
The wounded healer has become a professional qualification which
must be demonstrated on the resume or cv of anyone even attempting
to gain recognition and acceptance within the therapeutic
or spiritual industry.
So the evolution of the possible human is tied to the neurosis ..
the fear of self judgement that life .. as it has been lived .. is a lie ..
treatment by the latest fashion of wounded healer therapy has become
the status symbol for the latter decade of the 20th ..
and now the first years of the 21st century.
and some say that this is evolution .. that the tribe has progressed ..
(a wheel by any other name is still a wheel)
Most of the research carried out now, is on the basis of
"can I make money out of it" and how can I describe my own particular
neurosis from a unique perspective
so that others will participate in my self flagellation
just to make me feel good.
This is the so-called empathic healer who does not
dare to move beyond empathy ..
because if he/she did that, this person would become invisible
to those from whom he/she sought recognition and acceptance. ..
Integrity is standing up in your own individuality and wholeness ..
and the classic neurosis is the fear of what will happen
if anyone dares to step outside the mould ..
because the one who steps outside the mould
cannot be read, cannot be felt ..
and cannot be described by the words of the textbooks
written by those who were trying to find another way
to justify their belief
that the world is still flat
