I would like to pass on a story. I don't remember where I first heard
the story, but it stuck in my mind..

Once there was an old man in who lived with his son on a small farm near a
small village. They were very poor, but rich in the old man's wisdom. One
day, much to their surprise, a beautiful white stallion appeared in one of
their fields. They captured it and when word spread to the village, many
people came out to see the horse, and congratulated the old man on his good
fortune.
The old man only smiled and said "Maybe good luck, Maybe bad luck, time
will tell."
A few days later, the beautiful horse escaped, and was no-where to be found.
The villagers expressed their sympathies at the old man's misfortune.
"What awful luck!" They said...
The old man only smiled and said "Maybe bad luck, Maybe good luck, time
will tell."
A week later, the beautiful stallion returned, with a herd of mares!
The villagers all came out to see the herd of horses in the old man's
fields, and talk about what amazingly good luck the old man had.
The old man only smiled and said "Maybe good luck, Maybe bad luck, time
will tell."
The old man's son was breaking the horses so they could be ridden, and one
of the horses threw him, and he broke his leg very badly, it was clear that
he would be crippled. The people came out to help with the horses, and many
were sold, and they spoke of what a terrible thing it was, what bad luck
that the old man's son was crippled, and how hard it would be for them to
manage their farm now.
The old man only smiled and said "Maybe bad luck, Maybe good luck, time
will tell."
Soldiers came into the village a few days later. They took away all the
able young men to fight in a war, and they were all killed. They did not
take the old man's son, because he was crippled.
And you know what the old man said about that.
