Subject: [K-list] The Maha Samahdi .. was Ramana Maharshi
From: Christopher Wynter
On 2001/04/30 05:34, Christopher Wynter posted thus to the K-list: There have been a few of the great ones who have raised their vibration
high enough to take their body with them when they "died" to this
plane of existence.
For many, the "death" of the physical is a conscious choice on their
part .. when they allow their consciousness (mind + spirit) to dissolve
into their "Life Force" and to leave their body without any attachments
to the body at all.
This for them as the final Samahdi .. or transition .. the Maha Samahdi.
Some consciously choose to re-incarnate, but there are many others
who, with totally purified mind and body have nothing to take with them
(as a soul as many in the west know it)
For such people as have purified their mind and their body, it is common
for the body not to decay for a long period after they are clinically certified
as dead.
Hovever, as there is no energy or lifeforce remaining in the body, and no
way of connecting with the universal elements, the body, over a period
of time starts to dehydrate and will eventually turn to powder.
Once they are buried in the ground, there is no defence against the
natural decaying process, so the maggots take over.
The actual process that the so-called "Enlightened One" chooses
depends on his/her lineage .. or the path of his guru and the guru
before that ..
or it can also depend on the beliefs and customs of the particular
path s/she has chosen to follow.
What must be understood, is that in the East, there is very little value
on physical life, and the body is seen merely as a vehicle .. to which
the modern "enlightened one" shows no attachment..
There are records, however, which show there have been some
of these "enlightened ones" who (before spirituality became a cult
or a caste) who had a totally different process that they went through,
and who also followed a spiritual philosophy whose meaning has
been lost to the modern popular spirituality.
Not all of the teachings have been revealed. Not all of the translations
of the ancient texts are accurate ..
For the East, the unconscious is seen as outside the body, and the
search is for union with that which is unconscious .. outside .. the
bliss or Nirvana. It is seen that it is the conscious mind that is the
great impediment to this.
However .. what I have written above is a generalisation .. because
there are some hidden groups which do maintain the more ancient
understanding .. but you don't find them .. they find you .. and when
you are found, the teaching is for you only .. and is not distributed
publicly or published. It is passed on by asceticism and the oral
tradition. These groups place a great emphasis on the purification
of the body // as well as the mind .. but in doing so, they live so much
a normal village life that there is nothing to attract the seeker to them.
My own personal perspective is that it is easy to live the life or a
renunciate, a sunyassin or a monk .. making it real in daily life
is a different story ..
and the thrust of the work I do here is to make the principles of spirituality
real in daily life .. and in my relationships. Some of this is what I learned
during my travels .. and time I spent in a village as described above.
Yes, it is possible to move beyond the effects of our relationships and
our environment .. whilst still living in the world .. and in that environment
and in those relationships.
In fact, I found it a lot easier to do this than living in an ashram.
There are some basic rules .. and I have found they work. Yes, Fiona and
I have our moments .. but what most people cannot cope with is that the
relationship that most see is that of little children ..
I define Love of self as daring to be the true expression of who I really am ..
and love of other .. as daring to allow the other to also be the true
expression
of who they really are.
This can involve making space for each other .. and supporting each other
through our own self revelation .. and yes, it can at times be tiring ..
but the
end result is worth it because when I look at Fiona, I see Fiona .. and not the
mirror of someone else from my past with whom I have had an issue ..
nor do I see her mother .. and the same can be said for her when she
looks at me.
The process involves allowing all of the emotions .. whatever they are ..
and tracing reactions back to their source so that the core belief can be
revealed .. and the pain of the past can be healed.
Within this context, the spiritual teachings have great value ..
"God dwells in you as you..
see God in each other"
and ..
Whatever you do, do it as a form of worship..
so that it becomes an extension .. an expression
of who you really are ..
do not do it for anyone else's approval ..
and
the respect you have of your self
is reflected in your relationship
with all around you.
So Nina .. does this help ..
Passion is not for any guru ..
the ego is the devotee and the guru is the true self ..
for the syllables "gu" is dispeller of and "ru" is darkness.
This is what the great ones seek to convey ..
but the propensity for the Western Mind is to seek
the guru, teacher or saviour outside of self ..
and thus, the guru is seen as an object of devotion
and someone whose every word must be worshipped ..
rather than as the mirror of who you might become.
This was the essence of "The Christ" and "the Buddha" ..
and the body is the temple which holds the inner guru
whose expression is the life force .. or Kundalini ..
what it seeks is to become the symbol for this,
but for most, it has become the mask to hide it.
