On 2001/04/17 05:40, Sheila Cronk posted thus to the K-list: Hi,
Isn't the higher threshold of pain a blessing from the Awakening?
I remember before that time even a cat scratch could make me faint.
Not any more, the rheumatoid arthritis I suffered from since age 9 just miraculously up and vanished about a year ago. No pain - no after effects.
I broke my wrist a while back and rushed to the Hospital to get if fixed. Umm, it was Easter Sunday, so I suppose that accounted for the short staffing.
I waited patiently, after I told them I had broken my wrist, while they fixed up a few minor cuts and I even comforted a lady who was distraught over her little girl's tummy ache and then, finally, they got to me.
After the X-ray all hell broke lose. "Why didn't you tell us, you have got a serious break? We thought it was just a sprain. You showed no sign of being in pain."
I thought I did tell 'em :-)
Since then I've had a few patchups at that Hospital. The other day I booked in for a tooth extracting and they made an appointment for a month ahead because they were booked out. They ask if it was painful and I said yes but I could wait the 4 weeks, I supposed, as I realised they were busy.
I no sooner got home when the phone rang. "We know you", they said. "you have got the highest threshold of pain (excepting you father) of anyone we know so you'd better come back first thing tomorrow. We have postponed someone else's appointment".
So believe me friends, you may get passed over by the medical profession in the beginning but later on its VIP treatment if you say it hurts a little.
Love
Sheila
