Subject: [K-list] seeking for enlightenment
From: Michael Read
On 2001/02/23 17:34, Michael Read posted thus to the K-list: For Mike,
There may be no more miserable person than a seeker after
enlightenment. (At least in 'spiritual' terms.) The seeker
often feels that the goal is too far away and s/he will never attain
it. Or, S/he may feel that it is just right there, just around
the corner, just slightly out of reach. But, damnitall, it keeps
slipping away.
The purpose of seeking is not to attain the goal of enlightenment.
Rather the purpose of seeking is to wear the seeker out. Until s/he
becomes completely exhausted of concepts about what seeking is
s/he is not ready.
Seeking starts of its own accord and ends when it ends. The ending of
seeking will not be enlightenment. It will be awakening. Awakening to
what? To life as it is. To understanding that ordinary mind is Buddha
mind and that ordinary conciousness is Christ conciousness. And,
perhaps most significantly, that it is no big deal!
By whatever name we choose to call it - Goddess, God, Brahma, or the
Big Kahuna - we are not separate from it. It is within us, around us,
makes up our very being. We do not live its life as much as it lives
our lifes.
So, live - laugh - love and be happy!
Hey! I'm done with the soapbox. Next!
HAHAHAH and HOHOHO!
Peace - Michael
