Dear EZ,
Well :)) Once you have *experienced* the "answers" to Wim's "riddles" you
will find that they are not riddles after all, but a quite matter of fact way
to help "get" you where you seem to want to "go." But perhaps Wim's words
don't quite cut it for you.
Sri Ramana Maharshi wrote in *Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi*
"There is nothing new to get. You have, on the other hand to get rid of your
ignorance which makes you think you are other than Bliss." and elsewhere,
"What is Bliss but your own being? You are not apart from Being."
More riddles, I guess LOL!
It sounds to me as though you have already "tried" prayer and devotion, so
perhaps you should try more "mechanical" ways to reach the state of
"Oneness." i.e. Pranayama (breathing exercises,) Hatha Yoga, mind centering
practices such as meditation and chanting, etc. IMO Many of these
"techniques" to be successful combine breath work, a sexual component such as
Bandhas or Kegal exercises, and surrender/love.
And there is always Shaktipat. :))
Once when rather badgered by a man who insisted he should have Maharshi's
"grace" because of his important lineage, Maharshi responded in exasperation,
"Very well. If you are so anxious for Trance, any narcotic will bring it
about. (He continued, of course, that "Drug habit will be the result and not
liberation.")
And last but not least :)) there is Mystress's grounding page.
Sri Ramana Maharshi cites 7 stages to *enlightenment.*
1. Desire for enlightenment
2. hearing and reflection
3. tenuous mind
4. self realization
5. non attachment
6. absolute non perception of objects
7. beyond words.
Looks to me as if you certainly have # 1, but may have some difficulty with
the "hearing" stage.
But if you want "a modern contemporary master and guru only," you can't get
much more modern and contemporary than simply listening to many of the
wonderful people on this list. I see this list as a collective guru. :)).
Listen and learn!
But ultimately remember the answers are within "you." You are your own
teacher. :)) Sorry! More riddles!
A warm welcome to the K-list!
Love, Hillary
