What a great post, thanks! You've pointed to an issue that has intrigued me
and I've not seen much written about it. I am an Anglo, as they say here in
New Mexico, and before I moved here I had the opportunity to live in a
predominantly African-American neighborhood in Washington, D.C. K activity
in me was pretty wild at the time and it became clear that the subtle wounds
of racism that permeates the US were affecting me, too, and needed to be
spiritually healed. In my case the wounds were about guilt over privelege,
unwanted estrangement from friends during the Black Power days of the 70s,
and other issues. What surprised me was how much stuff was still in there,
and how specifically spiritual the healing became. It is hard enough to
clean up one's personal house. One's cultural housecleaning is just as
important and harder to see, sometimes. Holly
