Hillary, I did not think you were patronizing, and what you write here is so
true...
But I just remembered some of JB' remarks from a while ago, so I thought
I'll put in a quip or two :-)

So I wrote:

When I thought about this last post of mine last night, it occurred to me
that instead of 'mantras' I should have said 'koans'. "One can turn those
clichés into koans." (I do not mean the word cliché too negatively.)
JB has heard it all before, now he has to hear it again but from himself...
first *hand*. JB has to put his *foot* in his mouth, as you say Hillary, not
being in "fear" of doing something "wrong".

Hillary, you help him with that, what you write is real... to you... to
me...
It is real... no matter what... to anybody... when they recover the nature
of reality... when they hear themselves answering themselves. (Not asking
themselves and others habitually.)

JB, that eternal questioning is the problem, I've said it before. You were
trained from childhood on, to ask questions. Now you have to reverse that,
come up with answers. Even a seemingly wrong answer is right as long as YOU
come up with it. Try each of these answers on yourself, do not try them on
others, your answers are not their business. You may have to rephrase your
answer next day, but that is OK, again it is YOU who does that!

It is training... Become self reliant, the only way to be...

Do not rely on us, we just hold out a hand for balance as you are making
your own moves.

Try this:
Instead of asking, "Is it like this?" you say expressively, "So, it is like
this !" Then imagine you are nodding to yourself with an understanding
expression. Then you say, using you whole body, "I knew it !!"

Try that, you do not even need any contents to what you say, just the
affirmative stance, just the feeling of imagining that you know no doubt...

"Instant enlightenment, just add water."

It is actually very simple:
Pinch yourself !
Ouch!
You feel that physically.
That is real !
There is no double bottom to reality.
Just self evident stuff, experienced through your senses.

This is it... there is no more to it...
When there is more, it comes in due time... More of this self reliant
evidence.

"Instant suffering, just add water."

It is also actually very simple:
Instead of pinching yourself, find your most negative self judgement that
you believe to be true.
Say it to yourself !
No ouch in your body !
Nothing to feel physically !
Except maybe a memory of someone who accompanied their negative judgement of
you with a slap in the face, a push in the stomach or a shove in the back.
You will get a strange something in the mind. That is not a sensation, that
is a mentation that you do not sense with your senses.... That is illusion.
That is suffering.

The "ouch" is pain, is sensed. That is real, reality.
The other thing is "mentation", drama. That is suffering, illusion.

Stop the drama, and while physical pain may linger, mental suffering stops.
Stop the excuses to hold on to the drama and physical pain becomes bearable,
gets dealt with by the subject to the pain itself.

The body and the brain (not the mind) will respond in kind and will produce
the needed physical chemistry to deal with the nature of your reality,
neurotransmitters, endorphins and such, nectar eventually...

The body cannot deal with suffering, it can deal with pain... The body will
help you regain the pain that was accompanied by the drama of suffering. It
will force you to stop the drama, that is why depression makes one so tired,
to stop any energy from going into the dramatic waste bin of the mind.

(I have positive things to say about the mind. I did that actually a little
while ago: the mind as the organizer of the sensed data, a database manager.
The mind just got into a control problem, which we are now trying to figure
out.)

SO, SENSED STUFF IS.
MENTAL FLUFF IS NOT

Whatever experiences gravity, from it's grossest to its most subtle
physically measurable form, is reality.
Only that you can work with energetically, transform. The rest is vacuous
mind fluff, conceptual luggage, illusion.

The physical world is real, is it.
Nothing else to concern ourselves with...
Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara said nothing else...

Neat scientific stuff comes from there...
This is the miracle... the physical and the metaphysical that obeys laws of
gravity.
