You have not said whether the lecturer was a Westerner
who learned Buddhist Meditation or an Easterner.
There is a very big difference in the techniques taught.
In time I spent with HH the Dalai Lama,
he went into great detail to explain to me how Buddhist meditation
could not achieve full and beneficial results for the Western
physical body and mind unless there was Buddhist Ancestry. ..
although past life incarnation memories (if there were any)
could be awakened.
The expression he used was resonance ..
He did offer me suggestions and methods suitable for
use with those of Western genetic ancestry which would
assist to bridge the gap .. and these are the methods
which I use.
From what you wrote, I sense a confusion of either the
explanation on the part of the teacher .. or of understanding
on your part .. which could also have come from the teacher
if he was a Westerner with no Buddhist Ancestry.
just my $0.02c worth
