Dear Christopher,

I understand the concept of creating our own reality. However, I think that
sometimes people have a tendency to take this concept too far.

I don't think that people who are raped are saying, "Please rape me." True,
someone might be walking down the street with her head hanging, not paying
attention to her environment, carrying many bags. She is making choices that
are taking her down a path. So, yes, she is creating that reality. This does
not mean that she has consciously or unconsciously decided to be raped.

I think choices equal consequences. Patterns have an equal and opposite
reactions. A submissive, victim-like woman might face a reaction of being
raped. Now does that make it her "fault"? No! She didn't ask to be raped.
She made some choices which put her in that place and time where she was
available as a victim.

I don't think that either extreme of the responsibility view is accurate.
Yes, we create our own reality. Yes, shit happens. I believe the truth is a
combination of both. I think truth lies in the paradox of opposites.

I think the randomness comes in because of our free will. I may have planned
this life to be a great doctor. Now along the way, I meet a wonderful man
who loves to travel and he takes me around the world to experience different
cultures. This takes me off my doctor path. Free will can over ride all
prior plans. It's my choice.
