On one hand I think this is a pile of bunk. It tends to lay everything
at the victim's door. I know some think there are no victims. But I am
not convinced.

When I was hit by a car in the city and spent most of 1983 in the
hospital, I spent a lot of the first several weeks trying to understand
why this had happened to me. In the end I think I grew up a little bit
by admitting that the world does not revolve around me and that bad
things do indeed happen to good people for no discernible reason at
all.

Except for one thing. Some time before this I had felt tremendously
stuck and not moving in my life. I had read somewhere that you can ask
the "Lords of Karma" to speed up your karmic development. I asked. And
frankly this experience marked a huge speeding up of my karma.

I actually asked twice more since then. I haven't had the nerve to ask
a fourth time. I wouldn't survive it. At least this I who is writing
this would not survive.
