The moon was full, mostly hidden by deep cloud.
The little light available created threatening, contorted shadows
looming from projected terrors and childhood insecurity . . .
The path to the inn was uneven and my companion was swinging the torch
in all directions. Residual torch light lit stones, bushes and trees,
playing out imaginal
beginnings of ghouls and vampyres of the night, sneaking their hands,
wreathed beings and red eyes ever nearer,
ever nearer . . .

Reaching the inn I was soon in conversation with my companion
a scholar who was making a study of primitive religious cults.
She explained:

Allahism
A primitive military cult started by an illiterate poet.
Has a book which cult members are indoctrinated in from birth.

Jesusism
Jewish sub cult combining pagan Mithraism and mythological elements.
Leader is only person to overcome death (not seen since 'death').

Gautamaism
Nihilistic non-God dualistic death cult.
Institutionalised elitism and refined brain washing technology.

I had never heard of these strange beliefs and I wondered in what strange
place they existed.
'What kind of people have such beliefs?'
'Well.' said Yamantaka, 'they were all very sincere and well meaning . . .
