Subject: [K-list] "Chita" - (or chatter) - On Questions and Answers
From: Christopher Wynter
On 2001/01/23 02:44, Christopher Wynter posted thus to the K-list: One of the most misunderstood aspects of Eastern Spiritual
Philosophy is the term "Chita" or "mind stuff"
Eastern Yogic (Union) Wisdom Philosophy outlines four basic paths
to "Enlightenment". These are (very briefly)
Hatha Yoga .. of the body
Karma Yoga .. of cause and Effect
Jnani Yoga .. the Yoga of Wisdom
Bhakti .. the Yoga of Worship of the Divine Self.
The Western mind tends to follow one of these paths to the exclusion
of the others .. most commonly attempting to follow "Jnani" practices
for the gaining of wisdom and understanding.
However, the Western Mind sees this rather as a "Learning approach"
in the pursuit of "Knowledge" .. and the Bible tells us that Adam was
banished from the "Garden" for eating of the fruit of the
"Tree of Knowledge" at the instigation of "Eve" or his Female Aspect.
In Tibetan terms, the "Garden of Eden" is known as "Shambalakara"
incorrectly translated in the West as Shamballah .. which is not some
mythical place, but a state of Consciousness
achieved through the Compassion of Self Witness.
The difference in approach sees Knowledge used as a tool of "Power"
and control .. which is in part why so many religions maintain the
traditions of the mysteries .. and a rigorous syllabus of learning
in order to gain elevation within the priesthood.
Adam and Eve's other alternative was to eat of the tree of Life itself ..
and it is this approach which is fundamental to all of the Yogic Paths
through which the sentient being first experiences Shambalakara.
The Western Mind has been taught to live at a distance from itself ..
and the fundamental approach of Eastern Spirituality is not to control
the emanations of the mind "Chita" .. but rather to make the mind
the friend in order to acquire Wisdom.
Wisdom is a very personal thing ..
not something which can be learned
but evolves through Self Witness.
Wisdom is the embrace of Knowledge and Experience which leads
firstly to Understanding, then to Wisdom .. and then to Compassion.
Here we have another term which is grossly misunderstood by the
Western Spiritual mind .. which tends to equate
Compassion with Sympathy.
The fundamental difference again, is that
Compassion is a neutral energy based on an Understanding
gained through Self Witness which resolves personal questions
whilst
Sympathy is an polarised emotional response
which comes from unresolved emotional issues
within the self.
In the pursuit of Knowledge, the seeker always asks more questions
in order to gain more knowledge to obtain more power.
In true Jnani, the seeker asks those questions which can lead to a
greater self understanding of the self .. and does not seek to use
his knowledge
but to expand his personal Wisdom.
In Jnani, the Yogi knows he can create anything he wants with his
mind .. paranoia...hallucinations .. but he has learned that all of this
is an illusion brought on by his thought process ..
conscious and unconscious.
So here we enter the world of Karma Yoga ..
the Law of Cause and Effect which says
"first you have a thought and then the thought has you"
The true Jnani knows that the way through this is through making the
mind his friend through the recognition and acceptance of the illusions
of the mind. He recognises that there is a non-polarised source of
"Beingness" which is non-reactive ..
this is the eye in the centre of the hurricane
the energy of the True Self .. located in the Heart ..
the three aspects through which God is known
Brahma. Shiva .. Vishnu
the creator .. the destroyer .. the sustainer
The triune Self which exists in all things at its source
is the object of the Bhakti who allows his merging
with the three names of God by embracing all aspects
of Life .. firstly within his own Self.
The Yoga of Hatha makes this consciousness real
in the physicality and physiology of the body.
the Self Realisation of the purest Tantra.
the expression of Kundalini
the Inner Union of Male and Female
This was the message of the Buddha ..
This was the message of the Christ ..
But .. there is more to this story which will have to wait
for another time .. you see, in full perfection,
there is no death of the physical body ..
Enoch, Babajji (and others) have shown us that it
is possible to metamorphosise the body ..
Beyond didactic death is True Tantrika
The Yoga of Individualised and Universal Kundalini
in Brahmanahara ..
The only "Salvation" lies
in Unconditional self-acceptance of Self
or the embrace of the Absolute Consciousness
conscious and unconscious
beyond the illusions of Chita chatter.
Made real in all time-space continuums
and dimensions of Consciousness
