I have read that the body has three sheaths; body, astral, causal.
When we
dream we "travel" to the astral plane, the next level of
consciousness, and
during deep dreamless sleep to the causal plane, the next level up.
The
level above that one? Well you are a free spirit and no longer
sheathed but
united forever with Light of God. Perhaps during dream sleep we can
contact
beings dwelling in the astral plane of consciouness, who are free of
the
body but still have the other two sheaths. Could this explain
Samantha's

Hi, Carol:
Regarding sleep, dreams, astral, causal, etc.: I ran into a great
book
written about 50 years ago called "A Soul's Journey" by Peter
Richelieu. You'd probably enjoy it if you can find it. There is
another book out with the same title, so you'd have to include the
author's name if you wanted to search for it.
The author was living in Ceylon during WW2 and his younger brother
had
just been killed in the Battle of Britain. Upon asking God "Why him
and not me?", one day he looked up from his desk and a turbaned man
was stsnding there. When asked who he was, the man replied that the
author had asked for information about life and death and he was
there
to answer his questions. After being suitably surprised ( his door
was
locked...)and skeptical, the author agreed to try a technique to
leave his body during sleep. He was then escorted to many layers of
the Astral Plane and over the next several months began to have many
powerful experiences, including helping people in transition, some of
whom didn't realize that they were "dead". (Needless to say, he and
others were very busy at night during the war!)
I have had a few similar experiences over the years and I believe
that
we actually have quite a rich "other" life that we mostly don't
remember...Part of becoming more conscious is being able to bridge
the
gaps between states of consciousness, and though it seems slow at
times, in the context of many thousands of lifetimes, we're all doing
great! Many people talk of attending "night classes". Often, our
brain
kind of scrambles the experiences and records them as jumbled dreams,
which we may or may not remember. Last night I had another dream of
flying, which had a rich storyline to it, but usually those
experiences seem more significant than ordinary dreams...
Also, in some of the yogic teachings, reference is made to a state of
consciousness during deep meditation called the Tandra state, which
may seem dreamlike but has more the quality of a true "vision" state.
I have found that in that state, deep insights are available and
often
prescient visions and answers to questions are found. One of my
teachers called a similar state "ritam bhara pragya", loosely
translated as "a state where only truth is known". It is said that if
one can be conscious in this state, a desire can be manifested, as it
is right at the level of manifestation into the physical plane...This
is also the level where one experiences the Siddhis, or supernormal
powers described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. There's no end to
great and interesting experiences! All the best!

Terry
