I like those words from Deva Premal on the way she relates to the
Gayatri Mantra, tes mots José gave me an occasion to post them again.
Hope you like them...

"This is the most ancient mantra known to man. For me it is
especially precious because my father sang it for 9 months while I
was in my mother's womb. After I was born we continued to chant it
daily together for another 10 years, at which point it became so much
part of my life I can't rememebr for sure exactly when or why I
stopped singing it (probably teenage rebellion!).
It was re-introduced into my life much later when I heard a beautiful
version sung by my friends from London, Samesh and Tarisha. Now I
embraced the manatra for a second time, feeling I had discovered it
for myself, and no longer seeing it as something handed down by my
