There are three primary modes of written expression
around the experiences on the so called spiritual path ...

One comes from those who read the texts and listen to
the teachers and seek to emulate the experience as a
guide to what they should be experiencing ..

Two comes from those who read the texts and listen to
the teachers and do a comparison between what they
are experiencing and what is documented as
"the way it is" ..
thus losing the benefit of the experience in the rules.

The third mode comes from one who has accepted the
experience and uses the written word and the words of
the teacher merely as a stepping stone .. a road marker ..
a place name on a map ..

in order ..
not to judge or explain their experience experience ..
but to understand the experience
in the context of the teachings
and in the context of a bigger picture.

The first two hold onto the authority of the teacher and the
texts .. the third sees the authority as their own personal
experience and can see how the words and the teachings
are not a religion but a metaphor ..

The third person is able to see
the esoteric meaning behind the words ..
and bring the words to life as an extension
of their own expression.

This only happens when the throat opens ..
and the expression ..
the communication becomes
the communication of the heart ..
the energy of immutable fire ..

for the other two, the expression comes from the mind ..
from the element of air and blows like the wind ..

For the first two,
there is a personality division between I and You.

For the third, there is only individuality I
as an aspect of Universal I

When two in the third mode meet,
there is an understanding
beyond words .. of the meaning of
" seeing I to I "

the teacher and the student have merged ...
no identity needed ...

Because at that point,
You does not exist ...

and neither
does love or hate ..

The mirror shatters
the riddle is no longer a riddle
and the metaphor of life is understood

At this point ...
the knowing is knowing
(not knowledge)
of Home ..

This is the beginning ...
of the way that is no way
