Yes, birth, awakening and death; those are the three big ones (most of
us here seem to be between the second and the third). Thank you so much
for this post. I've had loved ones die, but as the years go by one tends
to forget the reality of mortality. Now again, someone dear to me may
not have long to go. When the time comes, I hope I can handle it as
gracefully as you have.

This life is so incredibly short. I don't think I'm alone in wishing
there was more time to see things and get to know other people. There's
such a longing to share love and experience... then we vanish like a
blip on the radar screen.
When all spiritual/intellectual chit chat has been exhausted, the
condolences have been given and the sympathizers have gone home, it
might be time just to close the door, lay down and have a good, long
cry.
Everyone who has truly loved has a right to grieve... a right to feel...
a right to be human.
It's a pleasure to be with you on the street... in the rain, the wind...
and among the beautiful fallen leaves.
Paul
PS.
One of my favorite quotes is by P. T. Barnum, shameless circus promoter
of The Greatest Show on Earth. On his death bed, among his last words
was something like this: "Don't worry about me. I'm going to join the
greater, happier majority."
