Dear Susan, whoever wants to know about the following:
(There is a Kundalini connection in the end.)
The Netherlands is often divided into two geographic parts:
(All this is approximate and somewhat tongue in cheekish.)
1. The part above the rivers, the Hollanders and Frisians, artists at
drinking and trading.
2. The part below the rivers, the Brabanders and Limburgers, artists at
drinking and living.
The part above the rivers (1) is mostly below sea level.
The part below the rivers(2) is mostly above sea level.
3. The 'dividing part', the rivers and the islands in those rivers, is the
third part.
These islands and some rivers are both above and below sea level.
Yes, this is complex, that is what makes Dutch so doubly standard Dutch.
This 'dividing part' is inhabited by Zeelanders and some Hollanders.
These Zeelanders and Hollanders were originally called 'Dutch' to be exact.
(New Zeeland, New Holland and New Mexico were established by them ;-)
Now, during the "Golden Age", which is a Dutch as well as an English as well
as a Spanish historic period of extreme pride, there were many Dutch
'traders' who travelled the world in their 'pirate' ships. They will not
admit to it, but they stole gold from the Spanish, who stole it from the
Americas. They also stole it from Africa. They stole gold from the English
who also stole it from the Spanish as well as from the Americas. (Very
simplistic, you are right.)
Indeed, there is no gold so clean as the hands that handled it.
After their pirate trips, the Dutch would build little temples and churches
to atone for their sins. They sinned so much they had to become very
religious, also very fundamentalist, dogmatic and rigid. These Dutch were
also the thrifty ones, and they had to look sensible and busy to hide the
fact that they got their wealth so easily. They had to become very crafty a
s well.
They invented a new form of sharing. It is now called 'cost sharing', it was
originally called 'going Dutch'.
Instead of sharing the goods, they invented sharing the cost. And as you
said 'Going Dutch' and 'Dutch Treat' exemplify it. (This is not just typical
for the Dutch anymore.)
You see, what you have earned is not hard to share. What you have stolen
however, you have to hide and use it thriftily lest others think that you
have loads of it so that they can steal it from you.
(1)Sharing the cost is something else then (2)sharing the wealth.
In (1) two parties pay, in (2) only one party pays.
There is a quite difference in benefit distribution as well.
Nice thing is that in (1) your are still sharing and sharing is good, god
can be fooled.
What does this have to do with Kundalini... well it is the sin, guilt,
punishment, calculative and atonement aspect...
That has become so engrained in ourselves, amongst other things Kundalini
helps us clear that. Replace stolen goods (not your own) with pure energy
(self)
Love,
Wim
No cost sharing, no goods sharing, just sharing energy
PS Susan,
I like what you say about the rope jumping, wasn't that nice on our school
yards. Omigosh, our age is showing, shall we just get a little nostalgic?
Yankee <---Jan-Kees=John-Cornelius.
Can also be "Jan, Kee" =John and Katherine (Kate), a typical Dutch married
couple.
OK<--- O Kee=Oh Kate! What Jan said when Kee told hom to go get some more
gold.
