Exactly right, this is what we did with our child, Emanuel.
Maybe at some point I will write about him.

I'll give it a bit of a try.
My wife did not know that she was pregnant until the fourth or fifth month
after his conception. We did not even know that she could get or be
pregnant. She actually thought that she was going through a very divine
stage in her life. She was so beautiful, she radiated such wonderful goddess
features, my Indian princess with her bangles and shangles. We would see
each other in exotic visions as we loved each other. I would kneel for her,
she would adore me.
This was the year that in Vancouver (1976) the First Symposium on Humanity
was held. (1200 hippies, many gurus types, Sufis, Rolling Thunder, Ina May
and her "Spiritual Midwifery" from the Farm with Stephen Gaskin, David
Hargrove, Findhorn people.)
We both dreamed angelic beings, both of us had Tibetan Buddhist memories in
our visions.
Eventually.... Emanuel's birth, flocks of angels. Homebirth, clairvoyant
midwife, Margaret Marsh, drop out medical doctor who opened up the chances
for accepted and legal midwifery in Canada.
Squatting position, Baghavad Gita music, sitars, herb tea, Dutch coffee, hot
chocolate.
When he was born (he took two attempts over a 36 hour period) the first
thing I did?
I threw out the adult furniture and we lived at the same level as him, grew
up with him. A cat with her kittens. A little buddha with his buddies.
Never used the words "No", "Don't' or 'Can't'. Never said 'Never' :-) Never
set the stage for arguments. No objections, no resistance. As Osho (his name
was different in those days, he lived in Oregon. Hmmm? Oh yes: Rajnees!)
then said, "Grass grows by itself." Never taught Emanuel the concept that
opposites in fact exist: hot / cold, high / low, good / bad, fast / slow. No
judgements whatsoever. All those are relative concepts. No concepts, just
stuff as real as cotton diapers and baby poo. When he was 17 (his day of
enlightenment) he said: "You guys are something! I could never pick a fight
with you even if I had wanted to, which I never did. Other kids parents are
so different. How come?"
"We did not educate you whatsoever, was too much of a risk."
"Educare (Latin), meaning we did not lead you out of yourself, away from who
you are."
"You were an experiment that could not possibly fail, a seed that ended up
in proper soil, right humidity, right temperature. Take care of the soil and
leave the micro- organisms alone. The seed takes care of itself."
Emmy is an excellent gardener, me all Maria Montessori stuff from Italy,
1905, same year that Einstein came up with his relativity theory I believe.
There is more to it of course ....

PS.
Emanuel is a globe trotting computer programmer. He also runs virtual
societies through his brain cells to test them for longivity.
The only society that ran without crashing, was the one in which there were
no expectations. Neato!
