 Carl Jung states that the unconscious mind is the opposite gender of
the body.. and I have found that to be true, and a wonderful simple
explanation of the nature of the Divine Beloved. The deepest level of the
unconscious is the collective consciousness, Divine Unity of All things.
  Kundalini dismantles the ego and integrates it into the unconscious..
this is the unity of male and fem that results in "Divine Androgyne". The
body may be gendered but the consciousness is spirit, beyond limits of
definable gender.
