Subject: [K-list] a new manual
From: Divine Goddess

Our eastern friends have developed the model of the chakras, wheels
of light. They have categorized them down to the major 7. Each chakra
has it's own color, seed sound, symbol, chant, vibration, gem, food.
element, states of being, yogic posture/action and more associated
with it.

The western world, borrowing this model, added affirmations, states of
feeling, music and etc. to this. (See Barbara Brennan's book 'Hands
of Light").

Eastern scripture describes the traditional movement of k up thru
each chakra in sequential order, from the base to the crown. For some
reason, in the west, this model does not always hold true.

Regardless, an understanding of each chakra is a pretty good way to
understand the movement of k.

For example, people who have k movement activating their third chakra
often show up on this list with a know it all teacher complex with
control problems. We, who look at them, know their third chakra is
unbalanced and being cleared at this moment. Unfortunately, the
'teacher' does not.

Suggesting third chakra activities like particular yogic postures
(ansanas) or colors or affirmations would bring balance in this
area...eventually.

In the western world, Abram Maslow, a Humanistic psychologist,
developed a theory called the hierarchy of needs. This is taught in
all basic psych classes. In a pyramid form, on the large base would
be the physiological needs, like air, food, and water. If these needs
arent met no one is ever concerned that their bills are not being
paid or they have no service they give to the world. This could be
analagous to the 1st chakra which is the survival chakra.

Progressing higher up the pyramid would be sex, love and belonging,
self esteem, self-actualization, transcendence needs. Each could have
a mirror on the levels of the chakra.

Since people tend to experience their world out of what chakra is
being cleared and balanced it would be easy to figure out where they
are by finding out which of their needs were not being met.

Synthesizing Maslow's hierarchy of needs with chakra development
would be a good start. Who needs to reinvent the wheel? There is
nothingnew under the sun anyway, just repackaging and a new name.
