 Hi Bob:
The majority of list members are not on web-only, they are getting
individual posts. The list is set up the way it is to encourage members to
send private thank you notes or "I agree" posts directly to authors whose
posts they enjoy.
 I do run other lists where the default goes to the list, however these
lists have much less traffic than the K-list.. which you know is a very
busy list already, or you would not need to set it to "web only". Those who
are on "web only" don't care about traffic, but those who are receiving
individual emails do, and they represent the majority. This list has been
like this since 1996, long before it moved to egroups.
  It ain't broke, and I'm not "fixing" it. I'm sure you can remember to
select the list address when you post. There is no need for a post to go
directly to the author *and* the list since presumably the author will
receive the list posts, and probably would prefer not to receive the same
post twice.
