Dear Friends,
My name is Lobster.
Some of you might remember me . . .
Currently and for the knowable and unknowable future I will be at
the monastery started by Kundalini Tantric Buddhist Master Chogyam Trungpa
and Akong Rinpoche - Samye Ling.
If you ever get the chance come here.
Today a rainbow - an auspicious sign - appeared over Samye Ling.
A couple of weeks ago we had a very rare double rainbow.
We do not believe in magic at Samye Ling, we live with it . . .
Every day I bring lights, flowers and offerings to
a new building called a Stupa.
It is an Enlightened Being. Without doubt
beyond words.
We want to make our Stupa grow.
We organise sponsored treks to the Himalayas
and hopefully in the new year to Tibet
to finance our Stupas further building.
Its been activated - it works.

My diet is very good. The only people who eat meat are the Lamas and other
high beings - us beginners have to eat a vegetarian diet.
Today I am just minding the office and exhibition room and office, as it is
Sunday. We have a lot of visitors Sunday, who come here as we are a major
tourist attraction. The resident Lama wanted to build a coach park on the
grounds - it may happen but I feel it should be built slightly away, so
people have to walk up to Samye Ling. That makes it more like a pilgrimage.
I just found some moxibustion sticks (these are used in acupuncture to put
heat on pressure points). Anyway I was surprised to find they are made of
sage - and I know the Chinese traded sage with the Europeans for ginseng AND
sage is
used in Wicca as something called a smudge stick for purification - I
suppose I could also have used them to make tea . . .
This morning whilst I was walking to the Stupa and the birds were feasting
on our new grass seed lawn, a hawk came down and grabbed one of the smaller
birds.
We feed the birds enough and the hawks know they should not be eating our
grass seed - well that is the official Samye Ling explanation . . .
At the moment we have two retreats going on and people as usual have come
in from all over the place - quite a few from London.
We have two nice geraniums on the window seal and I am looking for tubs and
window boxes to go outside.
Today I will be developing my INDRA project which is to get Internet
connection etc for Samye Ling. I am already starting this in small ways BUT
if you are seen to be competent, people start to ask you to do all kind of
stuff. Basically I do the things that I feel are relevant and important and
help where I can.
We are burning a lot of incense in the Stupa.
The Stupa still has to be decorated and painted and new statues will be made
in Nepal (one of the poorest countries in the world) We intend to build more
Stupas in Tibet which will be good for the local economies which are very
poor. Rokpa which is the charity run by Dr Akong Rinpoche (Tibetan Dr's
spend at least 18 years on their training - he started when he was 6) has
many projects to send aid to Nepal and Tibet.
We have two ponds. The second one
just has water in it and will be for wild life. The other one has an
island with a nice bench and Buddha image and at some point a bridge will be
built - at the moment it is just done with scaffolding.
