I'm reminded of reading R.D. Laing's "Politics of Experience". He did a lot
of work with scizophrenia, and he postulated that what's diaganosed as
scizophrenia in some cases may be a breakthrough to a different
consciousness. Now that I've been reading about kundalini, the experiences he
describes in that book sound like what I've been reading about k-awakening.
