I was thinking along similar lines for sometime. There is a concept of
influencing reality by the process of thinking,in the Vedic religion, which
is the reason it lays stress on altruistic behaviour and impulses.
What you think is what the (real) world will evolve into.

meditation moves the focus of the mind from self centred thought into
wide-spectrum "creative visualisation".We are all painters with the world as
our canvas. Most of us dream within the tiny squares defined by our egos.We
are all capable of moving out and influencing a larger area of the canvas.
