Welcome, Jose, and thank you for your moving story. I'm a former
psychologist whose awakening was spontaneous. After about a month of bliss,
I found myself in a storm of anger and paranoia that astonished me (I'd been
pretty even-tempered, by nature and profession!). Over the years, the swings
between bliss and let-down have slowly become less dramatic and I've learned
there is great wisdom in the idea that everything in the universe will
eventually balance itself. Like you, I've found the most joyful practice to
be simple presence in the moment. I love the rapture when it comes, but
mostly I walk quietly, trying to let my heart stay open. Holly
