Dear List,
Several good esoterically/occult inclined movies that come to mind:
"The Red Violin" (a well done movie with some 'fortune telling' and a
'reincarnating soul' <G>)
"Snow White" with S. Weaver (interesting stuff on mirror magic from the
period)
"Nostradamus" (a French/German film in English, well done. Good example of
the times and how secret societies worked)
"Nosferatu" (Klaus Kinski, 1972. Insite into the darker regions of the mind,
supersition, and folklore).
And of course..my all time favorite..."The Craft" <G>
"The Bible Code" was alright and dealt with an intersting (and recently
current) theme in a not to sectarian manner. Fairly straight forward on its
basic premise. If it went a little into kabbala it would have been more
accurate and better. But a decent $2.00 rental.
Of course, Rod Serling's "Night Gallery" dealt with some good occult topics
in an accurate (but dramatized) manner, with some very accurate symbolism and
references.
Some episodes of the recent show "Millenium" were also fairly accurate in
their use and choice of abscure symbols, themes, and rituals.
An all time 'that's an hour and a half of my life that I can never get back"
film is 'Pi'. The qabala is interesting, but the spiritual theme weak, and
at the end, I wanted to put a drill through my mathematical centers as well!
