I think that the sounds can be used to one's advantage if you know how to use
them. They can signal in increase in energy, expansion of consciousness, and
can be a tool, and not necessarily a 'sign of imbalance'. I mean, all
incarnate creatures are imbalanced. It is the nature of being born that does
that. A complete cycle is 12, yet our bodies only develop for 9 months, thus
3 cycles are missing. In short, we all are missing something. Although,
alchemy (and its child 'homeopathy') states that this can be corrected for.

The sounds most likely come from an increase, or at least a change, in the
blood pressure in the mendulla oblongata and ear drums.
