The difference between putting a convicted murderer to death and
murdering an innocent person is not a subjective one that is "entirely up to
us", and love does know the difference. What you are calling love is instead
self delusion. Are we really such elevated beings that we don't bother to
distinguish between muderers and innocent victims (that we conveniently don't
know)? Progress on the path requires the quality of discrimination.
Otherwise you have what the buddhists call idiot compassion.
