Even a murderer is doing the best he can.
Can you see that? That would require compassion.
But no, don't condone murder. That would be absurd.
As absurd as condoning the death penalty.

How do we know that every murderer is doing the best he can? Have you
known or interviewed every murderer in order to ascertain this? lf someone
murdered your loved ones would you be filled with compassion for him? l
don't think so.
l'm not a supporter of the death penalty as a rule -- l
think there are many reasons to oppose it -- but you are taking the "absurd"
position of equating the condoning of the death penalty with the murder of
innocent people. Assume that Hitler would have been captured at the end of
WW2 -- would executing Hitler (or Stalin or Pol Pot, etc) have been the same
as his murder of millions of innocent people? Similarly, altho executing
those convicted of murder may not be appropriate (or even moral), it is not
to be equated with the heinous crime of murdering innocent people.
