Seems weird to me too. I have no experience of this.
The thing about mastership is this:
'Nobody is a master who does not understand the duties of service'
Serving is something we can develop. Helping others is something we can do.
As for saints knowing who they are: These labels come from others. I feel
that progress entails an understanding of how much within us can be enhanced
for the good of others.
That is why when people say, 'you are already perfect'.
I always feel - true enough 'but some are more perfect than others'.
