I'd say that this is a very important issue, not just about insurance and
fear based behavior. It isn't easy to analyze, and the analisys needs to go
deep, into the very roots of human existence.
Do the sick have to be taken care of and healed? Do the poor have to be
provided for? Are we responsible for things, including the condition of the
environment and of our fellow human beings on the planet? Are we
responsible for sustaining our own lives?
Yes, I think we'll agree on that. But how does that comply with faith and
"God will provide" theory?
Fearful mentality comes from the conclusion that our free will is separate
from the system that makes the world spin. It's the fear of chaos, of the
world in which anything can happen to anyone - Isadora was clear about
that. It's not about insurance; it's about belief that she's all alone in
the world ruled by chaos, and that anything can happen to her, and that
some pathetic little insurance company is the only thing that can provide
comfort. This, of course, misses the reality by a mile.
We are not here by accident, but for a purpose. This purpose seems to be
related to the process in which God creates the world; the world is _not_
already created, it is _being_ created, right now as we speak, and we are a
part of God's intent with the physical. We're not separate from God, and if
we are to act, our actions should not be guided by the assumption of
separation, but instead by the assumption of the higher purpose of all
things that exist. Then, as we manage to feel that purpose, and feel God
behind it, we can manifest his plan in this world. We can organize better
conditions for all living beings. We can provide for the sick and the poor,
we can provide opportunities for the talented ones, and we can erradicate
the negative things such as wars and violence. But this should not be done
out of our fear, but out of our perception of the ideal world; the world
that God would want to call his own.
This world has certain rules. They can be called chaos, yes, but it is
better to say that these are the unbiased rules, the rules that allow the
manifestation of all sorts of states of being, and the nature of the
physical existence indeed is full of all sorts of problems. I'm afraid that
there will be no permanent victory over the nature of the world; we can't
erradicate evil, accidents, disease, aging, pain and death. But we can do
more: we can show our dedication to the Divine principles, we can manifest
the higher levels of existence here on earth. We can't completely succeed,
but things that we choose here and now will be ours forever, because this
reality, this illusion in which we live here and now has the main purpose
of letting us choose, it provides us with choices, and our choices will
determine our destiny.
Gee, did I write all that? I'm supposed to be lurking...
