Hiya Melissa...

I know I've been ranting about it...(I'm sure there's more to it than
the insurance bit, but the whole attitude thing with that made me
cringe. Obviously! I suppose I was pretty tough on Isadora, but I have
the distinct impression she can handle it <people are not given more
than they can handle-principle in effect here)

But I *do* have insurance. Car insurance. Homeowners' insurance. 'Cause
state laws and the mortgate company say I must.

I will likely have health insurance, when I'm working full time
again...as a convenience. Not as a crutch, not as a thing I feel I gotta
have or I'm somehow inadequate...I don't have life insurance. I'm not
afraid. If something happens, it happens. Spirit has it handled.

Insurance is a tool, like any other. Like money. Like cars. Like...jobs.

Not a "necessity"...if I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't have it. But
attaching the fear and guilt thing to the whole issue...that was just...wrong.

(I suppose I resented--among other fear-based things--the implication
that was made that if one does not want insurance one is an
irresponsible person.)

What's up with that assertion, anyway? It's like saying "if you don't
have x amount of money <or whatever> put away, you are a bad, bad person
and your children will suffer."

I can definitely do without that sort of guilt.

So, I rant and rail like a bitch against it.

<shrug>

Blessings,

Kathy
