My 2 cents on insurance . . .
Yeah, yeah, you could say it's buying into fear, but it's also only a
structure that facilitates dealing with the medical (& property)
reality of the society I live in. We have medical, dental,
homeowners, auto, etc. It costs enough to be sure, but it eases the
way too. Having said insurances does not mean that I eat the whole
hook, only that I've chosen a practical interface to deal with
contingencies if they arise. If not, it's only money. If I need a
Doctor, I need insurance to get seen, to get a certain level of
care. Sad, but true. I could go live "off the grid," but that is
not the life I have chosen, it would not serve what I'm here for
now. I guess the key is not to believe that without the structure,
life would fall apart.
