Dear List,
The Wyoming Valley Society for Esoteric Studies will be hosting a workshop
on practical plant alchemy and its associated interior and meditative
practices. John Reid, III, an internationally respected authority on
alchemy, and author of two texts on the subject, will be our presenter.
Date: Saturday, September 9th
Time: 10:00am until 5:00pm, with 1 1/2 hour break for lunch
Cost: $35 per person, $55 per couple
We will also have available a supply of alchemical literature, supplies,
herbs, and instructional material.
Where: 239 Schuyler Avenue, Third Floor, Kingston, Pennsylvania 18704.
Directions will be sent with registration if requested.
We are easily accesable from Interstate 80 and 81, PA-Route 309, and the
Pennsylvania Turnpike, making us 2 1/2 hours from Philadelphia, New York, and
3 hours from Baltimore.

Course Title: Alchemical Gnosis: Yoga of the West
Course Description: This course is designed to give the student an
introduction into the self-initiatory methods used in the royal art of plant
alchemy. The student will be introduced to the theory behind the science of
alchemy, and follow it up with practical demonstration of theory in action in
the laboratory. After completing this course the student will posses the
fundamental knowledge required to make alchemical medicines of the soul and
use them in rituals of self-initiation.
Course Blurb: "Like our Brothers in the East, Western Adepts have devised a
set of disciplined practices and meditations designed to draw the seeker of
truth ever inward and upward.
The Western initiate makes use of the spiritual connections between plants
and the planets. The herbal preparations used in alchemical gnosis, do not
contain psychoactive compounds, instead these Alchemical Medicines of the
Soul set up a nocturnal, astral erudition, between the seeker and their Inner
Master. This allows the user to safely and consciously enter the spirit
world, and experience its reality and share in its knowledge.

Lecture 1: The Three Essentials, Alchemical Mercury.
Lab: Separation of spagyric mercury from plants.
Time: 60 minutes
Lecture 2: The Three Essentials, Alchemical Sulfur.
Lab: Separation of spagyric sulfur from plants.
Time: 60 minutes
Lecture 3: The Three Essentials, Alchemical Salt.
Lab: Separation of spagyric salt from plants.
Time: 60 minutes
Lecture 4: Uniting the Three Essentials, Timing, and Capillary Dynamics
Lab: Unification of the Three into One.
Time: 30 minutes
Lecture 5: Alchemical Gnosis methodology, ritual, and experiences.
Lecture Time: 30 minutes.
Lecture 6: Slide presentation on creating an alchemical plant stone or the
"Opus Minor" precursor of the "Opus Magnum" a.k.a. Philosophers Stone.
Lecture Time: 60 - 90 minutes.
