Dear List,

The idea of the "Lords of Karma" as a term is found in
Blavatsky-Leadbeater-Baily Theosophy, or the Theosophy ('Knowledge of God')
Society and its early-mid 20th century decendents. There is also a theosophy
with a small 't' that relates to the European mysticism of
Swedenborg-Boehme-and L.C. St.Martin from the 16-18th centuries.

The two are not related.

The term 'Lord' in the West is associated with the Hebrew word 'Adoni' and
means several things depending on its context. The most generic esoteric
interpretation is that it means 'Law' or rule, order, of a divine nature.

There is no word for karma, but the term 'Universal Justice' is a close
approximation.

Once could see the four horsemen of the apocolypse as the four lords in the
context previously cited. However, there are several 'guardians' so to
speak, and the word for them is 'egregore' which is often poorly interpreted
to mean 'group soul' but actually means 'guardian' of the group entity,
whatever that might be. The word is of Greek origin.
