I read this book a long time ago. Funnily enough, I
met my first Americans when I was 7 years old and I
was staying on a tropical island off the coast of
Mozambique. I was so fascinated by them that I told my
parents I was going to marry and American when I grew
up. My parents laughed politely. I did marry an
American, unfortunately, one who fit into the mold of
the book and came to America.
However, I love this country and most Americans I meet
with a passion that's hard to understand, even now. I
am so glad to be here...funny, isn't it?

Yes. Even with all that is in need of change here, I
often see only the incredible generosity of the people
here. Watch something go wrong and watch people swing
into action to help each other.....
Love, Lesley
