Well ...... lMO the first of the above statements is manifestly untrue
and represents a misunderstanding of duality. Creating love does not also
create hatred. ln fact, the opposite is true. An act of love reduces the
amount of hatred. Acts of denial and repression can and do create negative
energy (and maybe hatred), but this is an entirely different act than one of
love.

lt is because a previous generation did fight evil in the form of Hitler
and his axis allies in WW2 that we're free to indulge in discussions such as
this. lt is easy to thank Hitler after he's been safely dead for 55 years and
one's family is not among his victims. l'm not a flag waver --- just a
realist. Yes, we do have to go beyond fighting evil -- it's not a good place
to become stuck -- but it still must be fought.
Your post referred to the
New Age sin of seeing ourselves in past lives as victims of evil. No offense
intended, Mia, but this post commited a greater New Age sin: trivializing
tragic figures and events of world history in the name of spirituality. lf we
have to thank Hitler in order to go beyond duality, then we're not ready to
go beyond duality.
ln effect, you're thanking Hitler for being a bodhisattva who
undertook to express our darkest selves in order to enable us to be good boys
and girls. Although the world learned painful lessons from Hitler, the
world doesn't need genocidal madmen in order for people to be good.
Before you can thank Hitler for
anything you need to feel and comprehend the magnitude of the suffering he
caused, which is something of which no one is capable. l'm sorry, but l'm not
impressed by a spiritual tour de force in which one attempts to rise to some
lofty height in order to supposedly feel grateful for the Hitlers of history.
Why not a simple act of compassion for their victims? lt may not be as
impressive to some, but it feels more authentic to me.
