This is the only way to heal a person fully.
I actually have a live-in client, a 'patient in residence'. She was in the
most abject state of living, extremely suicidal, dissociation disorder... 6
different personality states. When she decided to stay with our family... I
did not even have choice... I could only answer her request with absolute
and unconditional love... in all aspects... no holds barred.
The clue really was that in every one of her dissociated states she
discovered that love, full love was still there, always there and would...
could not be taken a way or even doubted.
Yes tricky stuff, especially when one is married. Integrity of my practice,
etc. It is now 7 months later and yesterday was the day of full integration,
she is herself...
Of course now the real work starts for her...
But now she knows and has experienced that real love is "in fact" not
manipulative and she will take it from there.
What was the other most important thing, was that there were absolutely no
expectations. Absolutely no time limits and behavioural expectations.
So, still, if she wants to stay with us forever... that is very OK.
