  Well, I have had a pinched nerve in my neck and the
pain felt like there was
  a nail in the middle of the palm of my hand.
Apparently there is some kind
  of nerve ending there.

Isadora,
That is called referred pain. An injury can be in one place and the
pain can be 'referred' along the nerve pathway and show up somewhere
else.

Sometimes chest pain comes from a pinched nerve in the back.
