Okay. I turned off java in preferences. Now the site loads, but is
COMPLETELY under construction, with lots of placeholders and a note from
the author talking about how they are "improving" things.

So I'd say it's definitely a site authoring problem and not necessarily
the browser. Probably a bug in their javascript or something like that.
