Namaste All, Kathy.
The Goddess is that Universal Consciousness within
creation/illusion, the Devi, Saguna Brahman as opposed
the Nirguna Brahman, or non-attributes.
A Guru to me is someone who has eliminated illusion
and in in union with the absolute. A Jivanmutkta.
Others who are not so realised are 'teachers', and
liable to human mistakes etc. The Inner Guru pulls and
the Outer Guru pushes but in the end the Guru is God.
Rising above desires may sound dualistic Kathy but we
are in a dual situation. It is real whilst you are in
it, said Sankara. With respect to 'desires', and I
presume we are talking of binding desires not non
binding like basic eating.
Desire is what caused us to be in the situation we
are in, according to the Satgurus like Ramana, Jesus,
Sankara, Buddha etc. Liberation is reversing the
process of the descent of consciousness, rising up the
K. Attachment to desires causes bondage and
impressions or tendencies/samskaras. So witnessing,
surrendering and not being attached or averted to
one's desire allows one to purify the intellect and
aids toward Liberation.
There needs to be a unity of thought, word and deed.
This is where the fraud gurus fall down, they don't
carry through for whatever reason. They don't correct
the course so to speak. A Guru who has an ego is not a
Guru.
