Namaste All,
Perhaps terminology is important, it seems to be on
here!!! Kundalini, Sakti, Prana etc. Language effects
and defines cultures as well, as the process of
thought.
I split Maya into its original sounds Maa and Yaa
Ma being the sound of the primeval Mother, and also
used in mind as manas etc. The universal mind and ma,
sakti ,is terminology for the same thing essentially.
Ya you will find in yantra or tool. So here we have
maya 'the tool of Ma'.
Which is I believe close to the original meaning.
Sanskrit is a contrived or created language even
though it is a spoken tongue like Esperanto. Sankrit
was perfected to transmit spirituality, as well as
normal communication.
Here is Aurobindo's ashram translation.
maya
signified originally in the Veda the
comprehensive and creative knowledge, wisdom that is
from of old, afterwards taken in
its second and derivative sense, cunning, magic,
illusion; phenomenal consciousness, the power of
self-illusion in brahman.
mayabhih [instrumental plural], by (his) workings
of knowledge.
mayah[plural], forms of knowledge.
