If we agree that in a very real sense, this planet is
a playground for us to evolve, and we truly believe
that once our egos are set aside (dead in my terms)
and the separation between us and Divine Oneness is no
longer in play, then nothing can be considered wrong.
It's all from the same source - All That Is, including
people who sack, pillage, rape, rob, kill, maim, and
molest. It is all God/dess. That includes how Sai
Baba behaves -- and I'm as good/bad as he is because
there is no separation between us. To quote a lyric
from one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs "The
killer in me is the killer in you."
I'm not particularly proud of this, but I've broken
every one of the 10 Commandments. Does that make me
bad? No. Wiser? Sometimes. Better than Sai Baba
because I don't behave the same way? No. I just behave
 differently.

Leslie,
l actually wasn't going to respond to this post of yours from a
couple days ago, although l disagreed with it. Then l read your latest post
bemoaning the "state of things" on the list and the energy behind some of the
posts, presumably mine included, and l find myself moved to address both of
these posts. ln the sense that these exchanges can feel very polarizing, l
share your distress. After having time to reflect, l regret (as l always
do) that l wasn't able to express my thoughts in a way that wasn't hurtful to
others. l joined the list to share with people undergoing k processes,
hopefully for the benefit of all, and if we must occasionally disagree, it
should be in an atmosphere of respect and support.
Now, with that
hopefully in mind, l'd like to comment on your above statements. Reading
this reminds me of what El said last month in the context of our discussion
on suffering: how problems result when you take a spiritual insight from a
high level and confuse it with life on this plane (my paraphrase). Yes, it
can be said as an ultimate truth that all is from the same source, and
perhaps it is true that in the ultimate sense there is no right or wrong.
These are spiritual insights that l understand can be very helpful, but using
them as standards to evaluate peoples' conduct toward others is not only
wrong but dangerous.

lf you want to say you're no better or worse than Sai
Baba, l can accept that, if it's intended in the sense that we should condemn
the act and not the actor, so to speak. But we cannot say behaviors are
simply "different" and not recognize that some are far better indeed than
others. Do we say that trying to save rain forests or whales out of a deep
love for this planet is no better than serial killing or raping? Or that
being nurturing to a woman is no better than molesting her, just simply
different? l don't know about the difference between right and wrong on the
exalted metaphysical planes, because l'm not on those planes, but when we
become so highly evolved that we no longer distinguish between right and
wrong conduct here on earth, l think we're in trouble.

The Dalai Lama has said more than once: "My religion is
kindness." Mine too. Being battered by k for over 7 yrs has changed me, in
that l'm now far more moved by a simple act of kindness than by a
metaphysical truth proclaimed by a highly evolved being. For me, that means
not only being kind myself, but insisting that the mighty be kind to the
weak. l try not to be a zealot about it --l'm not by nature a rigid,
uncompromising person -- but it means l don't close my eyes for fear of
seeing. l'm reminded of the old Sufi saying: "Say your prayers to Allah, but
tie your camel to the post." Which to me means: don't let spiritual concepts
remove you from the realities -- from the pain and suffering --of day to day
life.
regards,
 jerry
