Subject: [K-list] an interesting experience

l had an interesting experience a few weeks ago. My closest spiritual friend
(Elizabeth) is a reiki practitioner with a background in Tibetan Buddhism and
a connection with some monks who are at a center in Bloomington, lndiana, not
far from Cincinnati where l live. Elizabeth knows my long standing k
problems better than anyone, and although her reiki has never been able to
help my condition, she's been a wonderful source of support over the years.
Elizabeth has a center which the Bloomington monks visit once a month to give
teachings, etc. -- she always invites me over, but l never go, feeling that
since my k condition prevents me from doing any spiritual practices, there's
really no point in it. But l decided to accept her invitation to attend a few
weeks ago, because her monks were bringing along a contingent of lamas from a
monastary in lndia who were traveling around the US giving healings and
accepting donations in return for their monastary. Although nothing has ever
helped my k problems, l guess one never completely loses hope.
When l went over to her place that Sunday afternoon the first thing that
struck me was how much it felt like l was in a Tibetan center, as there were
lamas all over the place --- it was a pleasant culture shock. When my turn
came l was shown into a room where l was greeted by what was obviously a very
high lama --- he was older than the rest, with short gray hair and a broad
toothy smile that radiated tremendous warmth and compassion. At his side was
a young lama serving as his interpreter who engaged me in conversation about
why l was there and what we would be doing. As l sat there, l wanted to
just soak in the atmosphere and vibrations --- because of k, it'd been 4
years since l'd been able to leave home to be with anyone like this --
memories flooded back -- in their presence l was experiencing a feeling l
had nearly forgotten: my heart melting in reverence to a holy being.
lt took about a half hour to complete our conversation and go through the
healing ritual, which consisted mostly of saying mantras and doing
visualizations, which l told them l could hardly do at all, because sustained
focusing always causes headaches and stomach problems. At the end the lama
gave me several tiny red pellets which he said had been blessed both by
himself and the Dalai Lama -- he said to dissolve them in water and dab the
water on my problem areas. As l was leaving the room, l turned and looked at
him one last time and again found his loving gaze. When l emerged, Elizabeth
was right there with a big hug. Her helper told me she'd been crying while l
had been in the session, praying that l would at last, finally find help, and
l was so touched that l cried too while we embraced. She said there were
several lamas giving healings but that she'd made sure l saw this one.
l left
there feeling that l'd never forget the expression on the lama's face -- that
if that was the only thing l got, it had been worth it -- and l certainly
didn't expect anything more. l didn't experience any improvement the next
couple days. But l did dissolve one of the pellets in a glass of water, and
when l dabbed some on my brow chakra --where l've experienced constant aching
for 7 years-- energy immediately began to move there. The same thing happened
with my stomach, low back and crown: my other problem areas. lt's been that
way for 3 weeks now, although l've used it sparingly because of its strong
effect. l put it on my crown only once because afterward l was headachy and
groggy, and my stomach also has become upset with liberal usage -- so l'm
playing it by ear. My chronic low back ache is also unchanged. But l have
had more movement in my brow and crown areas than at any other time in the
last 5 years.
You know, it's
really neat to have this supply of shakti water which l can apply on my own
terms! So much better than having to put up with one of these fricking gurus,
where you have to put up with all the bullshit and never know what you're
going to get! ha ha ha And l've got enough pellets to last me for years
.... or, in other words, all the way to self realization, thank you! (LOL!)
When l told Elizabeth about this she was thrilled, but also somewhat puzzled,
in that apparently neither she nor anyone else received any of these pellets.
Who knows? l haven't really thought about it, and l've learned not to have
any expectations where k is concerned. But after 7-1/2 yrs of pain and
frustration, it's nice to feel hopeful again.
