I agree that a balance must be kept - but I see that as something that
looks suspiciously like a design fault with the Universe.

Yes; it is hard not to suspect sometimes that they don't want proper
preventative cures, just the type of remedies that you have to keep on
buying. Especially when numerous headache remedies include caffeine,
which is known to help cure the current headache whilst causing the next
in many people, or basing most pills on lactose, which causes digestive
problems for large numbers of people.
