It is all fun and games isnt it,
until someone gets hurt.
This last summer I had a landlady living 2 doors down from me with her
1 1/2 yr old and 8 yr old sons.
her boyfriend was a big mouth, white, a very funny guy had a whole slew
of racial jokes, he didnt care one iota about anything but showing off,
at someone expense,
and yes, he made jokes about whites as well.
and just like wm. He had jokes he'd point to make fun of those who were
offended by his jokes.
everybody laughed it was HELL funny people.!!! really very funny.
troble was, one of the little boys repeated one of those jokes to a 12
year old boy in another apartment, who had just moved in across from us.
I guess cause he was NEW here he didnt get the joke.
He and his friend beat the 8 year old up.
Which caused the landlady to throw her weight around, and she evicted
the new family, cause her kid beat up her boy.... words that hurt dont
count what mattered was that hitting counts.....
the tension around here while the new family moved out was incredible,
all these apartments face each other, you cant get in or out your front
door without being seen, all the cars line up outside MY window. and
every time they or their children or their friends, saw each other there
was talk of killing or beating or vadalizing.
Myself, my daughter and grandaughter and the other tenants here did
nothing to deserve this.
and to think it all started with a joke.
2 months of tension and stress, not to mention 4 little boys who now
have 'their' new perception of the world as a result of this joke and
the bullshit that followed it.
I live in a warzone
and it IS racial, perhaps the war hasnt reached your shores, it will,
just keep laughing.
