Phew, Kunga Jigme (James), I'm glad you were not
offended. :))
Thanks for sending the post on the brain "uppers",
btw. Who wouldn't want to be more intelligent
and mindful. ;)

I actually never thought of that possibility.
Thanks for reminding me.
It is something with El's "Go for the jugular style"
which is highly Western, so I never considered the
fact that she was.
As I understand it, the place in CA where El lives has
a lot of ethnic tension.
Where I live, there has only been slight tension
b/n ethnic groups for about 10 years or so,
because there hasn't been any diff. ethnis
groups in the country until now.
When my kid sis and I went to grade school we were
just a very few ppl of Asian heritage and all the rest
were Caucasian.
I don't know the number of times I've been called
"Chinaman"(wrong in two respects, I'm not male and not Chinese), even by adults.
In the monolithic community
you really had to develop a sense of self-irony or
"pride" of your "race" (or preferrably both) real
fast. :)
Still, the level of attention Asian girls can get
at a certain age in an almost strictly Caucasian
environment has been both fun and a little annoying.
This only ceases when I am in the US or England.
Best regards,
Amanda.
