First, to this part, ABSOLUTELY! And it is where for me the traditional
Christianity I've been exposed to, utterly and completely fails it.
People with 'problems' are excluded.
Second, as to hospital experiences, yes, a lot of people end up spending
a bit of time there. Not all come out of it as such a benign expereince
as your's seems to have been.
I am personally aware of a young man I have casual contact with, I had
been aware his k was rising, had talked to him a few times, but he
wasn't ready to hear about much. Tried referring him to k infor sources,
good sources on the net, counselers I trust, etc, but he wasn't ready to
beleive any of this.
I didn't see him for a few months, then when I did, he'd been through
hell and back in his personal life. A stint in hosptas, physcical, to
test for brain/neoroligical disorders, psychiatric for mental/emotional.
It had all proven too much for his marriage, he was in process of
divorce. His wife just couldn't handle all this, was using his mental
instability as the reason. Very sad, because they had seemed to love one
another very much, and have a good marriage before this, and he's really
a very stable, down to earth kind of person.
Yet he was saying tha while the stuff that sent him there was, he knew,
'crazy', he on the other hand knew he WASN'T crazy, it was real. He was
hesitant to tell me particulars about what this 'stuff' was, so I just
started talking, listing some of the things one experiencing k might
encounter, he got more and more interested, when I started the
paranormal stuff, he broke down and sobbed. THAT was what had been
happening, but of course, as with most of us, it ONLY happened when he
was alone, no one beleived him, and he couldn't give them any evidence
or proof of it.
He was 'diagnosed' as having suffered a mental/emotional 'breakdown'.
He's doing better now, rebuilding his life, but still very much in the
tumultous stage. He is the one, BTW, I mentioned in another post, that
went through the feelings and 'voices' urging his to suicide, as that
was an unresolved issue for him.
BUT the 'worst' effects of a hospital expereince for many is what that
on their 'health records' can do in many areas of life, for a long time,
even the rest of their lives. It can disqualify them from many jobs,
complicate their defense if ever charged with a criminal act, continue
to have devastating effects on their credibility in many ways for a long
time. So no one should EVER take lightly the idea of entering a hospital
for what might be considered mental/emotional difficulties. I can have
some pretty bad effects on other areas of one's life.
